How Taking Extreme Accountability Broke the System’s Hold on Me and Can Do the Same for You
The system is rigged, but dwelling on it will not change anything unless you decide to move forward and power through it.
I’ve come to understand deeply that the system is rigged against you. How? Because I’ve lived it.
I’ve watched people glide past barriers as if they were invisible while people like me, who were not fortunate enough to win the birth lottery, clawed for every inch of progress. It’s tempting to submit to this oppressive system and accept unchangeable circumstances.
But by doing that, I’m surrendering my future to forces that have no concern for me.
Most people made peace with this reality but I didn’t want to resign myself to circumstances I didn’t choose.
So instead of wondering if the grass was greener on the other side or if I’d been born into different circumstances, I decided to take extreme accountability for my life. One of the most powerful decisions I’ve ever made was to stop letting the system dictate my trajectory.
Navigating a system that was not built for me is both paralyzing and exhausting.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m not denying that these struggles exist. My mindset shifted from passive acceptance to radical self-agency over my life. Of course, there are still days when I feel dejected and wonder why the odds are stacked against me. But concentrating all my efforts on it won’t change anything.
So I chose to disrupt a system that was built to hold me back.
